Emily @ Home

During the Stay at Home months of 2020, due to COVID-19, the Emily @ Home Digital Arts Project offered a way to showcase their artistic interpretations of Emily of Emerald Hill.

Emily@Home Digital Arts Project is an OPEN CALL for video submissions from the public and all around the world based on passages from ’Emily of Emerald Hill’, the critically acclaimed monologue in Singapore since 1982, written by Stella Kon.

The project was produced by Orange Dot Productions with Stella Kon Private Ltd, and was supported by the National Arts Council’s Digital Presentation Grant for the Arts, as part of the #SGCultureAnywhere campaign, to bring together the best of Singapore’s arts and culture digital offerings to be enjoyed and experienced, anytime and anywhere.

Open to the public (local and global), participants were invited to showcase their own interpretation and portrayal of Emily with one or more recorded videos of their acting, based on 5 iconic passages from Emily of Emerald Hill.

Previous directors of ‘Emily of Emerald Hill’ such as Glen Goei, Jeremiah Choy and well-known actors such as Margaret Chan and Ivan Heng, who have played the role of Emily, together with playwright Stella Kon were invited to be the panel of Creative Collaborators for this project.
