KON'S PRESENTATIONS FOR SCHOOLS
Stella Kon presents her work with her own lively commentary, bringing each text and its message alive -- in an enriching and inspiring experience for students.
Stella Kon's readings of her works are full of dramatic excitement and intensity. The works are also richly loaded with themes such as national awareness, moral values and personal integrity. Her commentaries speak directly and stimulatingly to student concerns.
For 2001-2002 there is a special offer of free presentations, for schools which purchase books from the writer.
The presentations are aimed at students who may or may not have read the texts on their own. For example one presentation might focus on the play "Dragon's Teeth Gate." The session will familiarise students with the plot, the characters and the central themes. Without further input from a teacher, the students will become acquainted with a significant work of modern Singapore writing, and understand the message it embodies. Students who have already read the text will find their understanding enhanced, and those who have not read it, may be encouraged to pick it up to give it a try!
Included in Stella's ten published books are the famous play "Emily of Emerald Hill"; the historical novel "The Scholar and the Dragon", and the mythic play "Dragon's Teeth Gate." You'll find a list (below) describing the moral, literary and social values to be found in these and other texts.
When a school purchases 200 copies of any particular title, the following services will be provided FREE OF CHARGE
